New Things!

“Behold, I am doing a new thing;” Isaiah 43:19a

As we are about to enter into a new year, I’m reminded that our Heavenly Father delights in doing “new things” in His children. With a new year people (Christians included) come up with resolutions to make 2016 a better year. The usual resolutions are to lose weight, exercise more, get a promotion at work, etc.

But how often do people seek God’s counsel & see what He would have you resolve to do in 2016?

We will kick off 2016 with a new sermon series titled, “Small Things BIG Difference”. We often make big plans and huge resolutions going into a new year. We aim high and quickly fall on our faces. In this series we will look at taking small, manageable changes that will add up.

When we guard our words, make our thoughts obedient to Christ, and cultivate new actions, we can see long term life change empowered by the Holy Spirit. In this first series of 2016 we will set the tone as a church for each of us to live in a new season of empowerment and discipline.

There is hope for changes going into this new year. Our key thought for this series is this:

IT’S OFTEN THE SMALL THINGS THAT NO ONE SEES THAT RESULT IN THE BIG THINGS THAT EVERYONE WANTS.

Without giving away too many spoilers I leave you with a couple questions.

  • Do you want changes in your life going into 2016?
  • If so, will you seek GOD and make an effort to allow Him to change you?

My hope is that no matter where you are in your walk with Christ your answers are yes. JESUS is ready to do a new thing in our lives and in our church.

Bring on 2016!!! Happy New Year Lakewood Community Church!!!!!

Christmas Eve “Eve”

What a special Christmas Eve “Eve” service we had! Everyone who came surely received a blessing. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, we remember our many blessings and the King who came to earth as a tiny Baby.

Luke 1:30-35

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God…”
Happy birthday Jesus!

Join us this Sunday as we worship the King of kings.

  • The morning kicks off with Intercessory Prayer at 9:15 am in the Sanctuary.
  • Sunday School for all ages is 9:30 am.
  • Worship service follows at 10:30 am as the Lakewood choir presents their 2015 Christmas Cantata, I’ll Be Home For Christmas.
  • Immediately following the cantata, Pastor Ryan will deliver the 6th message in our current series, Readiness.

Don’t worry we will not go into overtime [smile emoticon]!

There will be no evening services so we encourage everyone to enjoy your families and be the church. And don’t forget to invite someone to our Christmas Eve Eve Service on Wednesday, December 23rd.

It’s going to be a great week at Lakewood Community Church….invite someone to come with you!

Welcome Jeremy Reese Back!

Lakewood’s own Jeremy Reese shared God’s Word on Sunday. He and his family came all the way from Spain.

Jeremy now works with OMS Spain as a missionary. Melissa, his wife, and Naomi joined us as well. We were honored to have them with us and continue to pray for them as they spread God’s Word in Spain.
