The Children’s Christmas Play was inspiring and fun. The teachers did a great job of directing the play and we are so proud of our kids here at Lakewood Community Church. Enjoy some of the pictures below with highlights from this year’s play.

Our community honored one of our precious, devoted church members recently. Rachel Terry was a mother, teacher and friend who passed away this August from cancer.
According to a WDBJ7 news report, “Friends say Rachel Terry expressed her love for education throughout all aspects of her life.”
Rachel passed away after a courageous 18 month battle with cervical cancer – never losing her positive attitude and zest for life. She was a teacher at Southside Elementary School. Her husband Charles, currently teaches at Kentuck Elementary, where the first little free library in Pittsylvania County was designed and dedicated in her memory.
The little free library was built in her honor to promote literacy and reading for years to come. Students at Kentuck Elementary placed the books inside the library Friday morning.

Afterward, we had an incredible time at our Thanksgiving lunch with church members, families, and friends. What a wonderful way to celebrate the upcoming holiday. Thanks to everyone who attended – the food was delicious, the fellowship was uplifting, and God was surely with us!
